An Update..

GTR
Well I milled out the sections between the runners on the flanges of the exhaust manifolds, they jsut need the last bits cut out by hand, cheers to Beasty for his help on this, it is much appreciated... Soon I will look into getting the heat shield mounts welded on, nothing too extravagant, just a few posts.. Once that is done I want to do a trial mock install before I send it all off.. I ahve taken out the fan adn radiator for inspection, and I am now beginning to look into the possibility of a thermo fan.

Bunky
Well I fixed the gear box issue by cable tying and wiring it up, it felt good, but today I broke it by going nuts on the dirt roads doing heaps of hand brake turns and stuff.. Nothing like havign a car that you can do that in.. Soon I will try adn fix the engine moving issue..

I managed to get a few 17.3 sec 1/4 miles out of it, byt advancing the timing and going nuts on the highwya, I am yet to reach teh 17.1 that I got earlier.. It may soon be time for weight reduction and that will start by ripping out all of that crap a/c shit that will never be used again

Japan
My Plans for ym trip to Japan are coming along nicely, looks like I will be at the D1GP at Ebisu Circuit in Nihmatsu in the Fukushima prefecture.. Can't wait.. Aug 26/27 is not that far away, lots of things to arrange, very keyed up about this..

Exhaust Side Project - Step 1

The GTR Exhaust Side Project is under way, what does this entail.. Well I'll try and put it into a few simple points..

  • Replace the Stock restrictive front pipe and aftermarket dump pipe with the GReddy Extension pipe set as pictured here ..
  • Weld/Repair leaks in the exhaust manifolds.
  • Ceramic Coat the turbo exhaust housings, manifolds and extension pipes.
  • Replace all gaskets in the area.
  • Repair/replace oil and water lines as necessary
  • Clean and polsih the heat sheilds so that they reflect heat as well..
Well I made a start, what was I waiting for?? The PEAK Xmas Lights Cruise, which was held on 24 Dec 05, was the last reason to have the car on the road for quite some time. So on Christmas Day I made a start (boring I know, but no family for 4500kms will do that to you, also being on call doesn't help.)

Okay so far there are two casualties, a few minor issues and some bad possibilities that came to fruition..
Casualties were two bolts, one snapped off if the rear turbo inducer, but it is just a mount for a hose I don't use, so I don't care, the other is a mount for the recirc pipes, probably going to be need to be cut off..
Minor issues are the water pipes that are frozen in, this was expected as I had issues with this earlier, I might have to go nuts on them though to get them out..
Bad Possibilities is the cracks in the Exhaust manifolds, this WAS expected, but both manifolds?? In the same place.. Well I have taken some pics to show what it is all about.. Here ..

Not quite sure if the manifolds are actually stainless, but I will know more once I get them out, I will also be able to tell wether the cracks were formed by expansive or compressive forces. Which will have an effect on how I handle the repair and the the way that I handle the heat afterwards. Maybe the wrap was a bad idea, maybe the welds can;t handle the heat I am putting into them (900 deg C) on full noise. Maybe the restrictions further down the line are putting excessive pressure into the manifold.

More later.

Update

Well it has been a little busy lately, putting things together, installing other stuff, getting everything together.. Back on call soon, so hope to get some more things done.

The TEIN EDFC has been installed, all but about 5%. The Motors are on the coilovers and the head unit is temp wired into a power source, this was mostly due to time constraints and the want to test it before I went too far. The effect that this unit has is exceptional, it goes from "almost standard car like" to "bone jarring you're going to die" at the press of a button and everywhere in between. It really is nice to get on the highway and soften it right up and just relax behind the wheel rather than be shaken to pieces. Hoping to finalise the installation of the head unit soon.

The Do-Luck Rear Cross Brace came in the other day, in the November Purchases I put the pictures of it on my Kitchen floor and at the below link is pics of it int he car.. Mmm nice hey..
Do-Luck Rear Cross Brace Installation
It is quite Large, with some 47mm pipe being used.. Never thought it would be that large.. Also it is in a great place to annoy the living daylights out of the passengers in the rear seat.. Oh well Stuff em..

Will be putting some items For Sale soon I think as the Japanese Yen is at a really good exchnage rate right now, it would be nice to get those J orders out of the way now while purchases from Takakaira and Greenline are at a really good exchange rate. The shopping list is quite long, but that's okay, I will just chip away at it slowly.

Cruises
A couple of fairly major cruises for PEAK latley, with the first official cruise since the restructure out to Pt Samson Pics Here and then just recently the Toy Run 05 organised by the Karratha Bikers Association. Great events, hoping to ahve more soon..

The PEAK site is coming along okay, some more work in the background is bringing it along nicely. Hopefully it will become more usable, navigable and worthwhile in the near future.. So if Links don't work, try going from the home page here - PEAK ...

November Purchases

Part of my Nengun order came in this week. The parts that arrived were:
  • Greddy/Trust Extension Pipes
  • TEIN EDFC
  • Tomei HICAS Removal Kit
I have taken some pictures and put them in the this Gallery Nov_Purchases have a look..

I am really impressed with the Extension pipes, the main pipes are 68-70mm ID, with the waste gate pipe being 37mm. The shallow angles, nice hand welding and over all finish are quite good. Not being too shiny either, which will have little value to me once I have them ceramic coated.

The EDFC is quite nice, it is good to finally have all the right parts in one spot, I will put all of this in the car once I get around to it. The cabling for the Motors is already in the car, so it is just power wiring, mounting the motors, moutning of the head unit and testing.

The HICAS Removal kit, well it is very nice, but the instructions are in Japanese and I can't read a bit of Japanese, so I will have to search for an English version. It looks fairly straigh forward to install with some wiring work necessary in the rear of the car.

Items for sale
I thinks that I will ahve most of my old stuff ready for sale soon, this should help to get the new parts under way in this direction. At the moment, I have a list of parts for sale about like this.
  • Pair front TEIN HA's for S13
  • 1 x FET Auto TT
  • 1 x Manual FET TT
  • 1 x S/H TEIN EDFC 12mm Motors, with all new cabling
  • HKS EVC 3 EBC
  • Nismo 80mm Mech Boost/Vac and Digital EGT Guage

Update

Bunky Madness
Well the bunky has had some work on it lately. Worked out why the car doesn't start, the immobilisor has an earth that is pretty shickingly poorly connected. Give it a wiggle and it starts, damn it... I was ejoying kicking it to get it going again. Bloody thing

I put on some DIY Tint.. Now DIY Tint is something that I recomend to anyone that is keen, except the back window, that was crap!! THe side windows are basically perfect, would be better if I actually properly cleaned the windows before applying the film, but oh well.. THe rear window though is angled in two directions, so it doesn't go on nicely... Oh well, shit happens. The rear window adds to the bunkyness.

The bunky got some panel damage the other day too.. Nope, not by me, unfortunately. by some guy in the Eagle Boys car park, I came out with Pizzas and he said he thinks he scratched my car, I just said "Cool, give me a look.." it was basically nothing, a tiny little crease dent adn some paint from his car, I said it adds character and as long as his car is okay, then I didn't care. On his way out he almost hit the bunky againa dn two other cars..

GTR
I did a little work on the GTR too, simple stuff, just fitted the Turbo Timer, finally, fitted the Ultra Speed Meter again and put the M'S ATTESSA Drag launch controller back into the car. quite happy with it all so far, also gave the interior a good clean withe Meguiars Dash and Trim Foam, which coincidentally has quite a nice smell to it.. I thought that I had wokred out how to turn the SAU ATTESSA controller into 2WD mode, by holding the down button for 2 seconds it goes hard Red, this seemed to put it into 2WD mode, but then I realised later that it was still driving the fronts, just not as hard as it normally would.. Oh well, it still means a fues out job for 2WD..

Ordered in my parts for the GTR the other day too, some nice parts in there..
Do Luck Rear Cross Brace - Clicky here for Brace - Always wanted one
Trust Extension Dump/Front Pipes - mmmm Pipes - I need to get rid of that stocko front pipe combo, so this is probably the best way to go, nice long collector for the wastegate..
TEIN EDFC - EDFC - After I was supplied with the wrong one, wrong sized motors, I can now finish off the installation, I will only be using the motors and the control unit, the rest will be sold with what I already have.
Tomei HICAS Lock Kit - Bye Bye HICAS - Cos I am not sure what effect HICAS is having on my car, but I want it gone anyway :) lol....

Rar Rar Rar

Bunky
The Bunky got a service and I have noted a few things, the timing was too far advanced, explaining why it pulled so damn hard in the top end, the plugs were in very very good condition with alsmost perfect color, the oil was thin and the top end of the head was a little dirty from the crap oil. I sealed up the rocker cover with RTV silicone around the seal to prevent any more oil leaks. I ripped out the A/C idle up solenoid and screwed around with some other stuff, inclduing tightening up of the engine mounts yet again.

GTR
After the little hose blowing issue on the GTR the other week, I decided to finally fix it on Saturday night, while the pipe was out I cleaed it inside and out with kero, which was both good and bad.. Good as the pipe won;t slip anymore and bad becuase it took me 40 minutes to get it back in.. Oh well, it is back in now and tight and doesn't look like coming off in a hurry.. The car performed well on Sat night, mostly jsut cruising around, got pulled over for an RBT, ntohing too drastic.

Site
The Site now has a Gallery added at this link Clicky Here!! Essentially I am hoping to get this going and put some pictures and stuff in there over time.

P-E-A-K
The site for P-E-A-K is about to get a bit of an update, hopefully.. I have handed off some of the information for this to the new President and hopefully in the future it will move forward from where I left it 5 months ago.. I think the new owner will be a bit more active with it.. Check it out here P-E-A-K

ReBlog

Well I had to re set up my Blog today, it seemed to go missing on the Blogger site, not the most convenient thing to have happen. Feeling sick today, up most of the night with temperature regulation issues and delirious thinking/half sleeping. Drove the Bunky in this morning..

Well I finally checked the speedo on the Bunky and it sure is out, by about 10km/h accross most of the range, basically if hte speedo says 60, you're doing 70.. up til about 110km/h when it says 98.. Oh well, can;t do too much about that, guess I will just put up with it. I have got basically everything ready for it's first service, which I will do on the weekend, probably Friday night, get it out of the way.

I want to make a start on the GTR this weekend, that is the main thrust for getting the Bunky serviced and ready, the GTR basically had an issue on the weekend.. After the cruise we all headed out fro some fun, I ran a couple of low 12's, one 12.1 (those semi slick tyres are really nice) and then after a short baltt here and there, she popped a hose on throttle off. We managed to get it back on, but not the best, so I need to strip that part of the car and realign the hoses etc.
Got a few good pics of my car taken on the cruise too, especially this one PIC PIC PIC taken by a friend, who took quite a lot of shots on the cruise. This cruise i decided to be more social and spend less time behind the camera taking shots. We also did a meal as a group, which was a good change and all in all I really enjoyed the afternoon, that turned into late evening then early morning.

Bunky Gets a working - Repost.

Had to repost tyhis one too

Yesterday I received my Service manual for the Bunky, a nice Haynes Manual that showed me a thing or two about the engine and drivetrain that I was hoping to find out. After getting home I had a further look and the reason that the engine flies around in the car is that it was missing a number of bolts to hold the engine onto the mounts. Hmmm, curious but they look like they have never been in there. So, I put one in, the other moutn wilkl ahve to be tapped out, which I don't think will be happening.Later on a friend and I went for a drive in the beast.. Not bad a bit of smoke, a lot of hardcore high rev action a couple of handbrake turns, one near "roll" experience and a really cool handbrake action that got stuck and we consequently left a 40m black line.. Not bad for a piece of junk.. Might be photos coming in the future..Anyway back at work now and they are drug testing us all again, just took a piss, so I can't go jsut yet..

Blog Repost - First Post..

Had to repost this.

Well this is my first Blog post, thought I would finally setup a blog, still a few things to do to get this all going nicely, maybe once the RSS Feed people actually authorize http://blog.yorik.biz/ as an actual domain, then it will make it easier.Hoping to update the Home page soon, then do some updates in the GTR section, add a section for my latest baby, a 1984 Mitsubishi Colt. My new Bunky!
